Telnet connection

This topic tells you how to establish a Telnet session with the management module.

To log on to the management module by using Telnet, complete the following steps:

  1. From a command-line prompt on the network-management workstation, type telnet ip_address (where ip_address is the management module IP address), and press Enter. For the first connection to the management module, use the default IP address of the management module; if a new IP address has been assigned to the management module, use that one instead.
Note: The factory-defined static IPv4 IP address is 192.168.70.125, the default IPv4 subnet address is 255.255.255.0, and the default host name is MMxxxxxxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxxxxxx is the burned-in MAC address. The MAC address is on a label on the management module, below the IP reset button. See IPv6 addressing for initial connection for information about determining IPv6 addressing for initial connection.
  2. At the login prompt, type the management-module user ID. At the password prompt, type the management-module password. The user ID and password are case sensitive and are the same as those that are used for management-module web access. The default management-module user name is USERID, and the default password is PASSW0RD (note the number zero, not the letter O, in PASSW0RD).
The CLI command prompt is displayed. You can now enter commands for the management module.
