Updating the open firmware (BIOS)

Notes:
  1. The Linux operating system must be installed and configured before updating BIOS.
  2. You must be logged in as a root user to perform these procedures.
  3. If an SOL session is in progress, it will be terminated when the BladeCenter® JS20 Type 8842 blade server open firmware is updated. The SOL session can be established again after the firmware update is complete.

Complete the following steps to update the BladeCenter JS20 Type 8842 blade server open firmware. You do not have to configure the blade server open firmware to enable SOL.

  1. Download the latest version of BladeCenter JS20 Type 8842 blade server open firmware from http://www.ibm.com/support/.
  2. Update the blade server open firmware, following the instructions that come with the update file that you downloaded.
