IBM BladeCenter offers a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) I/O
module that connects blade servers to the BladeCenter S Type 8886
on-board SAS storage fabric or to an external SAS storage fabric when
used in other BladeCenter chassis units.

SAS Connectivity Module for BladeCenter
The SAS Connectivity Module for BladeCenter provides connectivity
between the blade servers and onboard SAS disk drives on the BladeCenter
S Type 8886 chassis, or between external SAS storage fabric and blade
servers that use the SAS Expansion Card in one of the following supported
chassis units: BladeCenter S, BladeCenter E, BladeCenter T, BladeCenter
H, or BladeCenter HT.
SAS RAID Controller Module for BladeCenter S
The IBM BladeCenter S SAS RAID Controller Module provides
fully-integrated RAID Storage Area Network (SAN) functionality, inside
your IBM BladeCenter S chassis.
