Installing the blade appliance

To install the blade appliance, complete the following tasks.

  1. Make sure that the expansion unit is installed (see Installing the expansion unit for information on installing the expansion unit).

    CAUTION:
    Hazardous energy is present when the blade server is connected to the power source. Always replace the blade server cover before installing the blade server.
  2. Install the blade appliance into the BladeCenter® unit (see Installing the blade appliance in a BladeCenter unit).
  3. Turn on the blade appliance (see Turning on the blade appliance).If you have just connected the power cords of the BladeCenter unit to electrical outlets, you must wait until the power-on LED on the blade appliance flashes slowly before you press the power-control button.
  4. If this is the first time you are installing the blade appliance, you will need to configure it (see Setting up the initial firmware configuration).
