IMM self tests

Use this information to resolve IMM self-test errors by referencing the error codes and following the suggested corrective actions.

For information about the IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B appliance, see the Installation and User's Guide that came with the blade appliance.

Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is solved.
  • See Parts listing to determine which components are CRUs and which components are FRUs.
  • If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a trained service technician.
Error code Description Action
166-901-xxx Failed the IMM test due to a failure in the host bus.
  1. Turn off the blade server, open the blade server release levers and pull the blade server away from the blade server bay, but do not remove it. See Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit.
  2. Wait 45 seconds and reseat the blade server in the blade server bay and turn on the blade server. See Installing the blade server in a BladeCenter unit and Turning on the blade server.
  3. Rerun the test. See Diagnostic tools overview.
  4. Make sure that the DSA Diagnostic code is up-to-date, upgrade if necessary; then, rerun the test. The latest code can be found on the IBM support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?brandind=5000008&lndocid=MIGR-63017.
  5. Make sure that the component firmware level is up-to-date, upgrade if necessary; then, rerun the test. The installed firmware level can be found in the DSA Diagnostic Event Log within the Firmware/VPD section for this component. The latest level firmware for this component can be found on the IBM support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?brandind=5000008&lndocid=MIGR-63017.
  6. Turn off the blade server and reseat the blade server in the blade server bay and turn on the blade server. See Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit and Turning on the blade server.
  7. Rerun the test. See Diagnostic tools overview.
  8. If the failure remains, refer to Removing and replacing blade server components to replace the failed component.
166-902-xxx Failed the IMM self test due to a failure in SIO Bus and DASD SEP.
  1. Turn off the blade server, open the blade server release levers and pull the blade server away from the blade server bay, but do not remove it. See Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit for more information.
  2. Wait 45 seconds and reseat the blade server in the blade server bay and turn on the blade server. See Installing the blade server in a BladeCenter unit and Turning on the blade server.

166-903-xxx Failed the IMM self test due to a failure in the LAN bus.

166-904-xxx Failed the IMM self test due to a failure in the main expander.

166-905-xxx Failed the IMM self test due to a failure in the CPU/VRD bus.
Note: Ignore this error if the direct access storage device (DASD) planar is not installed.

  6. Turn off the blade server, remove the blade server from the blade server bay and remove the cover. (See Removing the blade server cover for more information).
  7. Locate the microprocessor and reseat it. (See Removing a microprocessor and heat sink for more information.)
  8. Close the cover and reseat the blade server in the blade server bay and turn on the blade server.
  9. Rerun the test. See Diagnostic tools overview.
  10. If the failure remains, refer to Removing and replacing blade server components to replace the failed component.
166-906-xxx Failed the IMM self test due to a failure in VPD or Power PSOC.
  1. Turn off the blade server, open the blade server release levers and pull the blade server away from the blade server bay, but do not remove it from the bay. See Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit for more information.
