Monitor or video problems - IBM BladeCenter HS22

Use this information to diagnose and resolve monitor or video errors.

Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is solved.

The video monitor is a shared BladeCenter unit resource. First, make sure that the video monitor is assigned to the blade server; then, see the following table and Solving shared BladeCenter resource problems.

See Parts listing to determine which components are CRUs and which components are FRUs. If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a trained service technician.
Symptom	Action
The screen is blank.	Check the function of the shared BladeCenter unit resources (see Solving shared BladeCenter resource problems). Make sure that the blade server is turned on (see Turning on the blade server). Make sure that the monitor is connected properly. See the documentation for your BladeCenter unit for more information. Make sure that: Damaged BIOS code is not affecting the video; see Recovering from a UEFI update failure. The device drivers are installed correctly. Follow the UEFI recovery procedure in Recovering from a UEFI update failure). (Trained service technician only) Replace the system-board assembly (see Removing the system-board assembly and Installing the system-board assembly).
The monitor has screen jitter, or the screen image is wavy, unreadable, rolling, or distorted.	Check the function of the shared BladeCenter unit resources (see Solving shared BladeCenter resource problems). (Trained service technician only) Replace the system-board assembly (see Removing the system-board assembly and Installing the system-board assembly).
Wrong characters appear on the screen.	If the wrong language is displayed, update the firmware or operating system with the correct language in the blade server that has ownership of the monitor. Check the function of the shared BladeCenter unit resources (see Solving shared BladeCenter resource problems).
