Out-of-band manual recovery method
Note:
These instructions do not apply to the IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B Type 4195 appliance.
To recover the server firmware and restore the server operation to the primary bank, complete the following steps:
Download the blade server UEFI firmware update from the World Wide Web (see
Firmware updates
).
Turn off the server (see
Turning off the blade server
).
Remove the blade server from the BladeCenter unit (see
Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit
).
Remove the server cover. See

for more information.
Locate the UEFI boot block recovery switch (SW1-5) on the system board (see
System-board switches
).
Use your finger to move switch SW1-5 to the ON position.
Replace the cover and reinstall the blade server in the BladeCenter unit, making sure that the media tray is selected by the relevant blade server. See

Restart the blade server (see
Turning on the blade server
). The system begins the power-on self-test (POST).
Boot the server to the operating system or the F1 UEFI configuration menu.
Log into the Advanced Management's web interface.
After you log in, select
MM Control -> Network Protocol
and ensure that TFTP is enabled on the management module. The default setting is disable.
Select
Blade Tasks -> Firmware update
and select the blade server you want to recover.
Use the browse button to point to the UEFI update file.
Click the
Update
button to update the UEFI firmware.
Reboot the server and verify that it completes POST (see
Turning off the blade server
).

Remove the blade server form the BladeCenter unit (see

).

.
Move the UEFI boot block recovery switch (SW1-5) to the OFF position (see
System-board switches
).
Replace the cover and reinstall the blade server in the BladeCenter unit, making sure that the media tray is selected by the relevant blade server. See

Restart the blade server (see

). The system begins the power-on self-test (POST). If this does not recover the primary bank continue with the following steps.

Reste the CMOS by removing the battery (see

Leave the battery out of the server for 5 minutes.
Reinstall the CMOS battery (see
