IBM BladeCenter Copper Pass-thru Module (CPM)
Pass-thru modules provide non-switching, non-blocking
connections between blade server expansion cards and external switches.
Pass-thru modules are not switches, but insert into BladeCenter switch
bays. A copper pass-thru module (CPM) passes electrical signals directly
between expansion cards and the downstream switch, using copper wiring.
The CPM connects the blade servers in a BladeCenter chassis unit to
an existing network infrastructure using unconfigured network connections.
IBM BladeCenter Optical Pass-thru Module (OPM)
The IBM BladeCenter Optical Pass-thru Module provides
non-switching, non-blocking connections between blade server expansion
cards and external switches. Pass-thru modules are not switches, but
insert into BladeCenter switch bays. The Optical Pass-thru Module
provides fiber optic connectivity to each blade server in a BladeCenter,
without providing any internal switching capability. The OPM provides
an unconfigured gigabit network connection to connect blade servers
to an existing network infrastructure.
IBM 4X InfiniBand Pass-thru Module for IBM BladeCenter
The IBM 4X InfiniBand Pass-thru Module for IBM BladeCenter
passes up to 14 external InfiniBand 4X copper connections to a maximum
of 14 internally connected blade servers that can be installed in
a BladeCenter H unit. Each blade server connection requires one of
the separately available InfiniBand expansion adapter cards.
IBM Intelligent Copper Pass-thru Module for IBM BladeCenter
Pass-thru modules are I/O options that can be used for
direct connections of blades ports to the external infrastructure
devices such as network switches. The Intelligent Copper Pass-thru
Module for IBM BladeCenter (ICPM) is almost like a traditional network
patch-panel.
